Communication base stations and core network equipment require 24/7 uninterrupted operation, making the reliability of cooling systems critical. Air cooling is currently the most widely used solution, relying on fans and heat sinks for everything from home routers to large base station rooms. Its advantages lie in mature technology, simple deployment, and controllable costs. However, with the widespread adoption of 5G technology, the power consumption and heat density of base station AAUs (Active Antenna Units) and BBUs (Baseband Units) have increased sharply, pushing traditional air cooling to its limits. Therefore, liquid cooling is beginning to emerge in high-density base stations and data center switches. The liquid cold plate directly contacts the chips, quickly carrying away heat, significantly lowering the operating temperature of the equipment, while also reducing the noise and energy consumption caused by high-speed fan operation.
